Does anyone know if the Denon 4308's USB ports (either one) has enough juice to properly power the PS3IR-PRO?

BTW-- I just checked, and the 4308 is delivering 5.1v through its USB.

thanks

The USB ports should power the Pro fine.  The question is do they still provide power when the receiver is shut off?  If not then your Pro will not function as well as it normally would.

Include your model of remote, inputs settings for your TV, AV Receiver, etc., and any other setup requests.  I will also need your Harmony Login name and password (I recommend changing your password temporarily to 12345).

Good to hear.  Yeah, I thought +5v would be plenty.

And even if the receiver didn't give power when its off, that shouldn't be a problem-- I'll just set my URC's macro to turn the receiver on first, before sending any PS3 commands. Smiley

Just so you know all USB devices are 5V.

Your idea may work for turning on the PS3 (if you can insert a delay long enough for the Pro to get power before you send the Power on command to the Pro), but turning it off will be much more difficult.  It takes around 20 seconds or so for the Pro to go through the shut down macro.  If your receiver shuts off power to the Pro before the macro finishes running the PS3 won't shut off.

You would be much better off finding a power source that will supply the Pro power at all times.

"Powered USB" goes up to 12 or 24V, but that's another thread. Smiley http://www.poweredusb.org/faqs.html

I almost never turn my PS3's off-- they donate to Folding @ Home when not being used.  So as long as the 4308 will power the PS3IR-PRO properly, then I think I'll be fine.

I just timed the Denon, and the USB ports have power in ~2 seconds after power-on.  I already have 14 seconds of delay in my "power-up" macro for all the other equipment, so no worries as far as the time is concerned. Smiley  If I ever did want to power-down the PS3, that's also not an issue, since I can put almost unlimited amount of delay into my URC remote.

I noticed another person here with a Denon receiver who was having issues.  So I hope this Denon works, but if not, yeah, I'll just use one of my USB chargers I have laying around...

Has anyone here tested a Denon 4308 to power their PS3IR-PRO?
