DirecTV Remote and PS3IR-500 ???
« on: January 28, 2010, 03:24:50 PM »
I just received my PS3IR-500.?
After following the steps on the PS3IR-1000 installation instructions card (that was shipped with my PS3IR-500) I appear to have successfully paired the PS3IR-500 With my Slimline PS3.

After much hair pulling I finally found the correct code to program the DirecTV remote to operate the PS3, but the remote does not power the PS3 on or off.
Anyone out there have any input?

The DirecTV remote does not have the PS3IR products in it's database.  You are most likely just using a Sony DVD player's command set.  You are not going to be able to tunr the PS3 on and off with the DirecTV remote (they do not have a learning function, so you can't even teach them the command).
For help setting up your Harmony remote feel free to send me a PM.

Include your model of remote, inputs settings for your TV, AV Receiver, etc., and any other setup requests.  I will also need your Harmony Login name and password (I recommend changing your password temporarily to 12345).

I know this is an old topic, but I kind of wanted to see if anyone knows something new on this front?  I'm kind of tired of dealing with the harmony and I would like to keep using the DirecTV remote.  DirecTV has a database of codes:

I clicked DVD - Video I searched for Brand: Sony and Model: Playstation 3 and it gave me a code that a lot of the functions work with.  Still though the power, PS and color buttons don't work, and they would be useful for watching Blurays.  One strange thing I noticed was, if I start typing in Schmartz, it sees it in their database.. but I can't get any codes to come up.  I attached a screenshot.  It seems like the directv people has a clue that Schmartz exists, but don't have any specific codes.  :-(
