Sixaxis controller always assigns to #2
« on: June 07, 2008, 08:52:31 AM »
Greetings all.

I was very impressed with the way that this device worked right out of the box.  I was expecting to have to buy a universal remote, but the blu-ray functions can be controlled by the buttons on my Sony TV remote! One problem remains however;  when the PS3IRX1 is plugged into the USB port on the PS3, the Sixaxis controller always auto assigns to Controller #2.  This requires reassigning the controller to #1 via the PS button menu whenever you want to play a game.  This is merely an annoyance to me, but has proven impossible for my small children who don't read yet.  Is there a work-around or a fix for this?

Thanks,

-Nick

Yes, please turn on the PS3 with whatever game controller you want to be #1

Sweet! That was pretty easy.  You'd think that with 2 doctorates I'd be able to figure that out by myself.

Cheers,

Has something changed with this issue? When I turn on the system with my wireless controller, the PS3IR-X1 gets number one and my controller gets number two. This makes some games (like Fat Princess) work incorrectly.

I tried it today (Friday, the 13th!) as described below:

PS3 version 3.41 with an X1 plugged into one of the USB ports.
Powered on the PS3 using one of the wireless controllers.
Controller has 1, and the PS3IR-X1 has 2.
I tried this several times and always got the same results.

Is your setup different?

Any update to this? I just got X1 this past week and when I start the PS3 with the controller that I want to use it is always assigned as #2. It's just a slight inconvenience but if there is a work around for it I'd like to know. I'm using a Slim model PS3 if that makes any difference.
