Sony da5300es > ps3 remote code?
« on: March 03, 2009, 04:39:41 AM »
hi all,

I purchased a STR-DA5300ES, than a PS3IRX1 and a PS3. I connected the whole bunch via HDMI.

I am trying to program the remote which came with the receiver to send PS2 signals to the PS3IRX1 (which converts IR into USB input), however you need a code for that. According to the manual page 122 its 313,314 or 315.

Unfortunatly no go, does anynone else have this kind of setup, if so can they help me configure this?

Any help would be apprecaited as I am not an audiophile... yet

Ronald

I looked up the manual for your receiver and found out that those codes are for the PSX.  The PSX is actually a DVR that has the ability to play PS2 games, so it really isn't a PS2.  I'm guessing that it may have used differend IR commands than the PS2 since you said that you tried all 3 codes and couldn't get it to work.

It looks like your remote can learn IR commands from other remotes though.  So if you really want to use that remote you will have to try to find a way to teach it the PS2 commands.  You could do this buying the PS2 remote (a lot of game stores sell used ones pretty cheap) or you could try to borrow one from a friend.  You could also see about borrowing a universal remote that can control the PS2 like a Harmony, URC, etc. and using one of them to teach your remote the commands.
For help setting up your Harmony remote feel free to send me a PM.

Include your model of remote, inputs settings for your TV, AV Receiver, etc., and any other setup requests.  I will also need your Harmony Login name and password (I recommend changing your password temporarily to 12345).

Thanks mate, really appreciate the answer. I thought PSx referred to PS1, PS2 or PS3, where the X is any number... Bit tricky. There is a gaming shop in town so I might give that a go.

Thanks again!

Yeah the PSX was a neat little device but really rare.  It's actually where a lot of ideas for the PS3 came from though (it used a XMB very similar to the PS3).
