Pronto TSU300 & PS3IR Pro & button saving
« on: August 26, 2008, 11:01:26 AM »
First: excuse my english, hope, you still understand my question.

I am programming my Pronto TSU3000 for the PS3IR and I want all buttons on one screen, therefore I will save buttons.

I determine, that following buttons have the same functions:

- START & Pause button
- X & Enter button
- Square & Popup Menu Button
- Select & Display *1
- L+R 1 & Skip Buttons
- L+R 2 & Wind Buttons

*1 Display has no function in Browser

When my observation is correct, why has Sony make different codes for the same function? Ore have I overlook something and the Skip, Wind, Display, Pause, Enter and Popup Menu button has in special situations (which?) other functions as the corresponding buttons on the game controller?

When I have not overlook something, then I can delete the Skip, Wind, Display, Pause, Enter and Popup Menu buttons.

Greetings,
Cimba

The codes are different. They have different sequences, view them in the Pronto editor. In different modes they do different things. Movies, games, DVD, Blu-Ray, XBR, etc, all have buttons that may or may not work in that mode. If you never use certain modes, you could remove them, but if always want to be able access anything at anytime, you will need all of the codes. Go to www.remotecentral.com and under the TSU3000 section you can find a PS3 IR code set on one page. You will have to add the discrete off code (46) tough. I own a TSU3000 and a TSU6400 and both can work the PS3 fine. Or, go to http://ps3ir.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=84.0 on this site and get the codes yourself to use with your own design.

And that is my question, in which situation have for example the L+R2 and the Skip buttons different functions?

I have tried Browser, BD, DVD and Picture watching and in these situations, the transport buttons are sometimes not working, but the game controller buttons like L+R are always working.

The game controller buttons should work in all situations, since the PS3 is designed to be controlled with the game controller.  So if you are trying to reduce the number of buttons you need I would suggest using the game controller buttons instead of the transport buttons if they accomplish the same thing.

For help setting up your Harmony remote feel free to send me a PM.

Include your model of remote, inputs settings for your TV, AV Receiver, etc., and any other setup requests.  I will also need your Harmony Login name and password (I recommend changing your password temporarily to 12345).
